Babies…

This Week– We have continued our focus of under the sea animals. We have explored different animals such as fish, turtles, sharks, sea horses, crabs and lobsters. We have also been encouraging the use of our fine motor skills through small world play, allowing the children to play with different objects such as people, animals, cars and our small world houses. We have encouraged the use of rhymes and songs with and without gestures and actions. Hiding and finding objects along with tidying up has allowed children to begin to understand the concept of tidying away and why it is important.

Next Week– We will be encouraging speech in rhymes and stories by singing and reading familiar rhymes and books. We will be encouraging pretend Play through the uses of toys and re-enacting experience that occurred in their present and past, such as making a cup of tea and stirring it with a spoon, feeding baby and making some dinner. We will be looking at numbers and sequences, encouraging the children to count from 1-3 and 1-10. We will also be identifying facial features and what makes us different from our friends.  Please ensure your child has a sun hat and sun cream.  You must apply the cream before your child attends their booked session.  We will re-apply sun cream after lunch.  Please ensure your child has spare change of clothes.

Please Remember-  To check your children’s drawers as there have been lots of letters and invitations handed out recently, thank you. To label your children’s clothes. It is very important that parents not only close, but lock both bolts on the gate when arriving/leaving the nursery garden. Please join us in show casing your child’s developments, achievements and interests on their online journal on Tapestry. If you have not yet signed up please let Megan or Sarah know. Please ensure you sign your child in & out every day.  Breakfast is served between 8.00 – 8.30am.

Acorns…

This Week– We have enjoyed the ‘under the water theme’ and have designed a lovely picture with fishes underneath the sea.  We have also created a ‘sun’ for our ‘summer’ display by sticking on lots of different materials. Acorns have also enjoyed playing with boats in the water which all children showed a great interest with and did lots of splashing as well. The children have started to talk about their holidays, so during circle time we are having discussions about different places we have been visiting recently. We have also been practising kicking small and large bouncy balls over on the tennis courts, making the most of the grounds we have here at silverhill.

Next Week– Acorns will have a giant map in the room so we can talk about where they have been away on their holidays and show the children all the different countries they can fly to. We will also be focusing on self-care skills such as washing hands and potty training etc. Please ensure your child has a sun hat and sun cream.  You must apply the cream before your child attends their booked session.  We will re-apply sun cream after lunch.  Please ensure your child has spare change of clothes.
