Babies…

This Week– We have been celebrating ‘Children in Need’. We have been dressing up and wearing spots, creating and taking part in different spot related craft activities and engaging in lots of different activities that will help support and develop the children’s gross and fine motor skill. We have created our very own Pudsey biscuits, engaged in dot painting and we have carried on developing this also through our daily physical activities that take place on a morning during registration. In the baby unit we have raised around £38 for children in need by wearing our pyjamas to nursery on Tuesday. We will be holding a ‘Stay and Play’ for all children in the baby unit on Friday 1st December at 9am-10am in the main hall. This will enable us as practitioners to engage and play alongside parents and the children to get to know one another a little more. For children that will be going to nursery in January, they will have the opportunity to go to nursery with their parents for a discussion and show around after this to also meet the staff and see he environment they will be developing and growing in.

Next Week– We will be creating an interactive advent calendar where the children will create a door which will be turned over each and every day. This will involve singing and gaining knowledge of each child and the festive period. We will begin to create some of our Christmas cards, presents and calendars ready to be given out before each child breaks up for the Christmas period. We will be encouraging block play and building simple structures using the wooden and plastic blocks alongside different boxes and crates. This will help to develop both the children’s gross and fine motor skills through picking up and placing the objects on top of one another.

Please Remember-  To check your children’s drawers as there have been lots of letters and invitations handed out recently, thank you. To label your children’s clothes. It is very important that parents not only close, but lock both bolts on the gate when arriving/leaving the nursery garden. Please join us in show casing your child’s developments, achievements and interests on their online journal on Tapestry. If you have not yet signed up please let Megan or Sarah know. Please ensure you sign your child in & out every day.  Breakfast is served between 8.00 – 8.30am.

Acorns…

This Week– Acorns have had lots of fun raising money for Children in Need. We have been very busy baking cakes to sell, dressing in our pjs and spotty clothes. We will hopefully have a final figure for how much we have raised by next week and we will display it in our classroom window.

Next Week– We will be going back to focusing on Autumn themed activities for the last two weeks of Autumn. Acorns will be doing some sensory activities like creating spiders out of playdough using pipe cleaners, googley eyes, and beads. We will also be doing some orange, red and yellow gloop play. Also Acorns will be making some hedgehogs using pinecones relating back to our hedgehog visit.

Squirrels…

This Week– We have had loads of fun doing different daily activities raising money for children in need. Thanks you so much for your donations. We have dressed up in our pyjamas, made Pudsey masks, made some lovely treats to sell, had our faces painted and wore something spotty. We have also been looking at shapes this week doing many different shape activities. We have had a shape table with a sand tray and shape flash cards, for the children to mark make shapes in the sand and also pictures of shapes for the children to trace with objects on the lines. We made shape pictures using shapes in paint and then printed them onto paper and had an activity with shapes on an easel drawn on with chalk and the children made them magically disappear with water and a paint brush. The children loved the laminated pictures and shapes which they had to place the shapes on top to make the picture. We have begun to practice our Christmas singing ready for the mince pia and mingle on Wednesday 20th December.

Next Week– We will be moving onto numbers the children loved the easel activity so we will continue that next week using numbers. We will be doing different number games to encourage recognition and counting. We will also be making our Father Christmas letter and folders ready for December and continuing on with our Christmas singing.

Owls…

This Week– The children have been looking at the phonic ‘m’ and using the rhyme Maisie Mountain Mountain to remember how to form it.  Thank you to all of those who remembered to bring in something for our alliteration table.  We have been role playing shops which the children all really enjoyed especially using the tills.  We have been looking at shapes and how we can make patterns and arrangements with them.  Forest school was fun we had popcorn that was cooked on the fire, it was very yummy.  We are getting very good at our Christmas songs and can’t wait to show you in a couple of weeks time!

Next Week– We will be looking at the phonic ‘j’ which will tie in nicely with Jesus and Joseph.  Please bring in anything beginning with ‘j’ for our phonics table.  We are making a nativity role play area within our class and hope to have this finished by the end of the week, so the children can act out the story and songs they have been learning.  The children will all be making a star to go with the nativity scene, a fun activity which will also support there fine motor and scissor skills.  We will continue with shapes as the children really enjoyed this activity.  Friday 24th is mufty day, please bring in your donations for the tombola stall. We are hoping to do a dress rehearsal for the nativity so please bring in your child’s costume when you have got it.  Please ensure it is in a named bag and all parts of the costume are named also.

Please RememberTo check your children’s drawers as there have been lots of letters and invitations handed out recently, thank you. Return any borrowed underwear as we have completely ran out. Please can you remember to bring in items from home beginning with ‘M’ for our alteration table.  Please can you check all your children’s jumpers as we have many that have gone missing that are named. Please remember to help your child to self-register, before long they will be able to do it all for themselves! Also named wellies are a must for the upcoming months as we like to make the most of outside play, even in the rain! In your child’s drawers should be celebration and achievement certificates, please fill them in and hand them to us so we can celebrate them during our assembly.

Bunnies…

This Week– Singing rehearsals this week have been continuing and your children have been doing fantastically well we are trying on the main stage next week!  Please can we take this opportunity to remind you to bring in your child’s costume (named) as soon as possible, thank you.  We have been focussing on the phonic sound ‘m’ this week, thank you for supporting your children to bring in items from home, it is really helping to develop their understanding of the sound. To extend the ‘m’ sound we have been listening to different types of music and using musical instruments to tap out rhythms.  We enjoyed a ‘shape walk’ around the school grounds becoming more aware of shapes in our environment, even spotting hexagons and semi-circles! Well done Bunnies!  During Forest School we learnt about fire safety and enjoyed popping (and eating) popcorn on the open fire.  We have had a fun ‘spotty’ end to the week raising money for Children in Need.  Thank you for your generous donations.

Next Week– Our phonic sound will be ‘j’.  Once again please do encourage your children to bring in up to 3 items to discuss with the rest of the class. Next Friday 24th November is Mufti Day and your child is free to come to school in home clothes in exchange for a gift for the Christmas Fayre tombolla, therefore no PE kits are needed on this day.
