Babies…

This Week- We have had lots of fun making our own sandwiches for our Teddy Bears Picnic. We have continued to read stories such as ‘Goldie Locks and the Three Bears’. We have spent lots of time exploring the setting and enjoying the space and freedom now that it’s the holiday period. The new pirate ship water play has been a great success and the children have enjoyed playing with it.

Next Week- We will continue to explore the outdoors so please remember sun cream and sun hats. We will be focusing of role play and developing our home area.

Please Remember- Please ensure your child has nappies and wipes for their session. Please ensure to sign in and out each session. Please join us in show casing your child’s developments, achievements and interests on their online journal on Tapestry. Can we please remind parents that we do not open until 8am and close at 6pm, please allow time to feed back about your childs day.

Acorns…

This Week- We have been experimenting with different foods by touching jelly when it’s straight from a packet to then cooking and stirring it with warm water ready to set and we watched the glitter sparkle in the strawberry flavour one. We have also mixed rice with different colours which the children enjoyed having a little taste of. During Forest school we spent time making dens by using lots of different coloured and textured materials and hung them from branches across the trees and the children enjoyed walking and running through them and also hiding behind them as well.

Next Week- We will be focusing on farm animals and making our own farmyard by using lots of objects from the garden for the children to explore with using real life items e.g soil etc. Also we will be welcoming Miss Ella Goddard into our room.

Please Remember- Children should not be wearing open toe shoes. It is very important that parents not only close, but lock the gate when arriving/leaving the nursery garden. Please remember to apply your child’s sun cream before dropping them into nursery as well as providing cream for us too use throughout the day. Please join us in show casing your child’s developments, achievements and interests on their online journal on Tapestry. If you have not yet signed up please let Megan or Sarah know. Please ensure you sign your child in & out every day.

Squirrels…

This Week- We have been making pizzas, the children were able to mould and shape the dough before adding some of their favorite toppings. We put them in the oven to cook ready to take home and enjoy. We have also made sparkly jelly. We talked about how to stay safe around the hot boiling water from the kettle and not to touch, we then took it in turns to mix the crystals until they disappeared. We then loved to play with the jelly in the tray when it had set we had discussions of a ‘jelly flood’ from the programme Ben and Holly. We have also had lentil play practicing our control with spoons and bowls and also have been painting on the easel. We have had lots of fun in the garden in the lovely weather enjoying our new path and exploring the new flowers.

Next Week- We will be having a music and movement week with sticky kids and action songs making us of the school grounds such as the field and pavilion. We will also be using the outdoor space next week setting up our own car wash, splatter painting on paper attached to the fence and taking our small world in the outside environment. Also we will be welcoming Mrs Anita Taylor back after hurting her arm.

Hedgehogs…

This Week- We have continued to read “sharing a shell”. The children have used their creativity skills to create creatures to live in our rock pool display. They have combined glue, paint, glitter and materials with only a little support from me. They have used their physical skills, holding their pencils and using scissors to cut, to create wonderful masterpieces. We now have a crab (safe in his shell) and ‘the big bad fish’ on our display, along with several glittery starfish which the children cut out all by themselves! Such fantastic teamwork, the display is coming along nicely now. The garden now has a lovely new path which the children very much enjoy playing on and we have planted new plants with a little help from the children. They are enjoying looking after them, giving them lots of water! The garden is looking lovely with our pumpkins growing bigger every day and our beanstalk (not quite) reaching the sky! We have even picked off our first bean! It’s all very exciting and the children are loving being outside! We are making the most of the school holidays, exploring the school grounds and the different play equipment around the school. With support from some of the nursery staff we have created a den over in forest school using old bits of material and began making a house made from sticks. We can’t wait to continue this next week!

Next Week- We are hoping to turn our home corner into a travel agents. We will begin talking about different holidays and experiences. Any holiday photographs will be greatly received! We will also begin to improve our math display. We are hoping while you are out and about you can begin talking to your children about different shapes and numbers in the environment, if your child recognises any shapes or numbers we would love for you to share a photo of the object with us. We will gradually build up our display of photographs of objects in the environment. Your child will have more of a connection with the display if it is something they found.
