Babies…

This Week- We have been continuing our theme of Teddy Bears. We read the book ‘There were Ten Teddies in The Bed’. We followed the book with a song using 5 real teddy bears on a mattress so the children could physically see each bear rolling out of bed. This activity offered language for number and counting. We put real mattress out on the floor for each child to get into bed with a teddy. We continued the teddy theme with an activity which involved sorting yellow, red, blue and green bears into dishes of corresponding colours. We had various books and teddies brought into school by the children including ‘One Bear fell out of Bed’, ‘Winnie the Pooh. If you are Happy and You know It’, ‘I want my Teddy’. We used size and positional language when we put bears of different sizes up on the shelf to sing the number song ‘5 Teddies sitting on the Shelf’ This activity involved language for taking away. On Thursday the babies joined the older children for a whole school photograph on the lawn.

Next Week- We will continue the bear theme using The story ‘The Three Bears’ If your child would like to bring their teddy and or a book about a teddy please do so.

Please Remember- Please ensure your child has nappies and wipes for their session. Please ensure to sign in and out each session. Acorns…

This Week- We have been creative with the play dough. Some of the creations was “a wiggly worm” “a sausage ”  ” birthday cake” the children used tools, shape cutters and their hand to mould a shape. Also the children enjoyed a matching number game. Some children were able to recite numbers in a sequence and count the correct number of objects. Acorns showed great interest in music and dance. Some children asked to listen to their favourite songs such as, “frozen” and “funky monkey”. The children enjoyed dancing and moving their bodies to the beat of the music. During forest school we explored tree Rubbing. We used paper, crayons and then shaded in to see the marks that the trees make. We have been reading and discussing the story ‘The Rainbow Fish’ we all spoke about the fishes feelings and how we would feel in our class if our friends would not share. Bunnies…

This Week-  The Bunnies were kindly invited to watch the Upper School performances with ‘Pinafore Pirates’ on Wednesday and ‘Hansel and Gretel’ on Friday.  On both occasions the Bunnies did us proud and sat beautifully throughout.  We thoroughly enjoyed the productions. Wednesday brought a Spanish party enjoyed by all of Pre-school where we sang all our favourite Spanish songs and thought of all the Spanish words we could remember. Mrs Brocklebank also spoilt us with a chocolate bar to say ‘gracias y adiós’. On Thursday we had to put on our best smiles and posed for the ‘whole school photograph’, once again the Bunnies were fantastic and showed great maturity following instructions from the photographer. Well done Bunnies.

Next Week- All Pre-School will be visiting Puxton Park on Monday for our end of term school trip. Don’t forget to bring in pack lunches and appropriate clothing for the weather. Please remember to pack light as your child will be carrying their own bags and coats etc.  All children must be in by 8.45am to ensure we meet the coach on time. Thursday 7th (12-2.00) all children and parents are invited to a ‘Leavers Picnic’, food list is up in the classroom and we would appreciate your support. Next week we will also be speaking to the children about moving on to their new schools in preparation for Reception and enjoying a more relaxed week leading into the Summer Holidays. We are sad to say that this will be the last week before we bid a fond farewell to our Bunnies. We will be wishing them a wonderful holiday and all the very best starting their new schools in September.

Owls…

This Week- We have been learning about the letter X in our phonics. The children have enjoyed learning to write it but it proved a little tricky when thinking of X words.  There has been lots of talk about our new schools and some of the children have had the chance to visit their new reception classes and meet their new teachers. The children have been carrying that through in their play as they explore their new role play reception class and they have enjoyed stories about starting big school.  We can’t believe it’s nearly the end of the year and soon we will be saying our goodbyes. On Wednesday the two classes joined together for a hour long PE class where they enjoyed lots of games that develop their gross motor skills. Wednesday afternoon we said goodbye to our Spanish teacher for the last Spanish class of the year. The children joined in with Spanish party games and won prizes. On Thursday we had a whole school photo taken, luckily while it was sunny. Copies can be seen by the office and if you would like to order one it must be in by Tuesday of next week.

Next week- We will have a very busy last official week of Pre-School. On Monday we have the Pre-School trip to Puxton Park which we can’t wait for. Tuesday we intend to have our last Forest School in the afternoon and if the weather is good we might have a fire and marshmallows. Wednesday we should have PE as normal and Thursday we will be having a goodbye picnic. Please can parents check the food list in the classroom to see which item to put your name down for. Friday will be our last day and we will be finishing at 12noon.
