World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March, the whole of Silverhill School celebrated World Book Day, as is our annual tradition. It was a wonderful highlight of the week. All of the children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character and were happy to show off their outfits in the school parade – all the costumes were amazing. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and the planning that had gone into the whole event.
In the morning Reception to year 4 thoroughly enjoyed watching mini plays written by Year 5 and 6 – based on Fairy Tales with a Twist. The mini dramas were acted out with enthusiasm and confidence and it was a joy to see the children developing their imagination and speaking skills. In the afternoon, the year 6 children were also able to enjoy reading to the preschool children: a wonderful shared experience to promote the love of books!
Across the school, the children also made book marks, designed posters for their characters, enjoyed reading, listened to stories and talked about their favourite books and characters. We look forward to our next World Book Day – certainly a celebration to look forward to!
