Weekly Newsletter 21th to 24th October

Year 1

Year 1 have thrown themselves into the Carnival’ theme this week for Arts week. The children have enjoyed dance and drum workshops- lots of noise and movement! They have also been extremely creative in making head dresses, masks and musical instruments. Your child has been given a sound in their purple phonics book. Please help them to find around 8-10 words containing their sound to share after half term. Have a lovely break!

Year 2

The children have really enjoyed our “Carnival week “this week.

We began the week learning about different carnivals around the world and the children designed their own costume. During the Dance Workshops the children learnt some Samba moves and shimmied their way around the school grounds! The Drum Workshop was very successful not to mention noisy!! The children learnt how to follow and make a beat on different Brazilian instruments.

Each child has also made their own headdress and costume for the carnival parade.

The children have had a great start in Year Two this term, well done everyone! Have a restful half term and we look forward to seeing you all in a week. Please can you make sure your child returns to school with a writing pencil, rubber and a selection of coloured pencils.

Year 4

This week, Year 4 have had great fun enjoying arts week! They created their designs around the festival ‘Day of the Dead’

They created fantastic skeleton masks with flowers and jewels on them along with purple sashes with matching designs. They also made some wonderful instruments to play in the carnival including drums, shakes and guitars. They have all enjoyed getting involved this week and we have seen lots of artistic talent!

In English the Year 4 have been enjoying some dictionary work and finding out meanings to new words. Please encourage your children at home to use a dictionary!

Have a wonderful half term
